چکیده
An experimental study on sheathed cold-formed steel C-lipped columns (studs) with service holes in the web subjected to compression and major axis bending is presented this paper. A total of 17 experiments was performed both oriented strand board (OSB) plasterboard used as sheathing material varying connector spacing employed between members. Material tests geometric imperfection measurements were also undertaken. The tested specimens comprised a single 2.4 m long member sides secured at its ends top bottom tracks. Eight pure OSB connectors 75 mm 600 initially performed. Specimens then under combined loading, by first applying compressive load corresponding 75%, 50% or 25% predetermined axial resistance laterally loaded until failure. Reducing from resulted up 20% 30% increases capacity for studs respectively.

Analysis of Sheathed Cold-Formed Steel Wall Studs
The strength of sheathed wall systems is substantially greater than unsheathed walls with the same studs. Testing on studs sheathed on both sides with dry gypsum board demonstrate strength increases as large as 70% over unsheathed studs (Miller and Peköz 1993, Miller and Peköz 1994). The current AISI Specification for sheathed wall stud systems are complicated, only apply when the sheathing is ...
متن کاملBehavior of Steel-Sheathed Shear Walls Subjected to Seismic and Fire Loads.
A series of tests was conducted on six 2.7 m × 3.7 m shear wall specimens consisting of cold-formed steel framing sheathed on one side with sheet steel adhered to gypsum board and on the opposite side with plain gypsum board. The specimens were subjected to various sequences of simulated seismic shear deformation and fire exposure to study the influence of multi-hazard interactions on the later...
متن کاملBracing Stiffness and Strength in Sheathed Cold-formed Steel Stud Walls
The objective of this paper is to provide the stiffness and strength characteristics for coldformed steel stud walls stabilized by sheathing. The primary stability resistance is provided by translational (lateral) stiffness supplied at the fastener locations to the cold-formed steel studs. This paper separates the source of this translational stiffness into two parts: local and diaphragm. To an...
متن کاملTungsten disulphide sheathed carbon nanotubes.
An insulated nanotube wire is formed by the binary phase of layered tungsten disulphide and carbon nanotubes (shown in the HRTEM image) generated by the sulphidization of tungsten oxide coated multiwalled carbon nanotubes at 900 °C. Thermogravimetric analysis shows that the tungsten disulphide coat acts as an antioxidant.
متن کاملFailure of high strength steel sheets: Experiments and modelling
Failure in sheet metal structures of ductile material is usually caused by one of, or a combination of, ductile fracture, shear fracture or localised instability. In this paper the failure of the high strength steel Docol 600DP and the ultra high strength steel Docol 1200M is explored. The constitutive model used in this study includes plastic anisotropy and mixed isotropic-kinematic hardening....
